Exploring the World Famous Emerald Cut

Updated: Nov 12

Hidden beneath the dense tree canopy of Rock Springs Run, tucked away in the small town of Apopka, lies one of the most beautiful paddle runs in Florida, and it is known by the locals as 'Emerald Cut'. This little Gem is a Spring fed river, which means the waters are crystal clear and a constant temperature of 72 degrees making it perfect for an afternoon paddle (The only way to visit this spot is by kayak, paddleboard, or canoe which makes the adventure even more fun!) It is home to a vast array of wildlife such as Otters, Egrets, Herons, Turtles, Fish, Alligators and more, ensuring there is never a dull moment!

This portion of the Rock Springs Run is located just a short paddle upstream from our property here at King's Landing. The paddle up and back takes around 1.5 hours for most folks, but many use this area to hang out, eat lunch, and chat with their friends and family. The paddle is very beginner friendly and one of the best parts is that motorized vessels are prohibited making the area even more peaceful.

There are many different stopping points for everyone to enjoy on their trip including one of our favorites, Bonsai Bend. The Oak stretches out of the run providing shade, and jumping platform, and a great backdrop for your Christmas Card photo as well. We recommend bringing a packed lunch and some snacks so you can enjoy them along your trip!

Swimming is allowed at this Spring and the shallow waters make it super easy for folks of all ages to take a dip and enjoy the rejuvenating cool waters.
